The Ultimate McLaren 720S Fuel Pump Upgrade Solution!

The factory fuel pump system in the McLaren 720s utilises a high-end single brushless fuel pump, and a complex routing of fuel lines to produce an excellent fuel delivery solution. Unfortunately, the engineers designing the OEM system didn’t spec it to be capable of the 1000+ HP that we commonly see on cars running ethanol fuelling. Our Engineering Team took this as an opportunity to not only increase the total throughput of the fuel pump system, but to do it in such a way that all of the OEM functionality is retained. Gone are the days of being required to keep your fuel tank filled to a minimum of a half tank, or being forced to use an external fuel surge tank mounted in the engine bay.

Caution!

Others are providing solutions that are not protecting your port injectors with their fuel pump options.  When comparing other brand pumps to Infinit Performance, ensure there is a fuel filter in the system after all electric pumps either in the tank or in the fuel line. Companies using a Y fitting to join the factory pump (after the factory filter) and an additional pump before going to the top hat and not including an inline fuel filter are cutting corners and will cause premature failure to the port injectors. Both pumps are controlled via factory PWM meaning there are no relays or hobbs switches to rely on. The ECU has complete control over the pumps. Our custom harness is above the factory grade, plug and play. This complete fuelling system can be installed under 15 minutes. Without cutting, splicing, tapping or soldering wires, no boost feeds required, no regulators to install, no pipes to crimp or cut! It is a drop in replacement. Simply drop the new fuel pump into the existing fuel pump basket, bolt the new fuel pump controller to the fuel tank and plug the new wiring harness in.

One of the most significant achievements of our engineering team has been retaining a functional siphon system to keep both sides of the fuel system filled with fuel, while still being able to provide substantially increased fuel flow to the engine over the OEM system. This is accomplished by completely redesigning the system from the ground up with a proprietary siphon routing solution. This allows us to not only keep the auxiliary side of the tank filled, but to keep the pump assembly itself filled with fuel – directly. This allows the 720s Fuel System to not only feed the twin brushless pumps with fuel when below a half tank full, but to allow your fuel gauge needle to read as accurately as OEM.

This kit is completely plug and play, includes everything you need for 1,600HP of fuelling on Ethanol and 2,400HP on Gasoline. Soon with our Voltage Booster add-on (not included in sale) this fuelling system will be able to support 3,000hp of Ethanol fuelling.

To design the upgraded fuelling solution for this platform we completely reverse engineered the stock fuelling system to see how the flow could be improved without cutting corners, reducing fuel filtration, creating new leak points (safety was the number one priority) or having any possibility of fuel starvation.

Our fuel system sticks to the factory method to increase the fuel flow. On our fuelling solution we have two E5LM pumps with 31 micron filters under each which sit in the fuel basket. The pumps then feed fuel into a 'TT' piece with a non return valve on either end (high and low sides)

On the low side the fuel goes to a Siphon Jet Pump. This creates suction to transfer fuel from the other side of the tank back to the main basket the pumps sit in, without the use of another electric secondary pump. The basket behaves like an "Anti Surge Tank" to prevent fuel starvation all the way down to 0% remaining fuel.

On the high side the fuel goes to a 6 micron factory in line filter, and then to the top hat. From there it utilises the factory fuel lines to deliver fuel to the engine. This negates any concern for leaks.
