As McLarens become quicker and more powerful, certain aspects of the drivetrain have shown to break under the added driveline torque. This differential with Limited Slip is a nice upgrade if you're looking to preemptively avoid a failure while at the drag strip or a direct replacement for those who may have already had a failure. McLaren does not consider the transmission a service item, thus if the factory open differential fails they deem the entire transmission faulty and needing of replacement. This differential is a cost effective alternative to replacing the entire transmission.
Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential is suitable for all McLaren M838 & M840 models. A direct replacement for the standard McLaren differential, the Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential transforms your car’s performance.
Unlike a conventional gear-style limited slip differential, the Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential relies on clutches rather than gears for its operation. That means it is much smoother in operation.
The McLaren Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential never locks harshly with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, like a conventional LSD. Rather, the Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle, to a constantly varying degree, and never locks.
The Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential has many benefits over a standard open differential, including maximising traction and minimising wheel-spin, eliminating torque steer and snatching in rear wheel drive cars compared to conventional LSD units, and a design which retains the standard oil lubrication.
The Drexler Clutch-Type LSD differential is proven in circuit and drag racing, rallying and road use, is produced from Corus steel billets, is CAD designed and CNC machined, then inspected to ISO 9001 standards.
