This core spec has been used in R35 GTR I/C’s running at around 700-750hp and we’ve supplied it to some very well know tuners.
Tube internal lanced offset turbulators work the air a lot more than a traditional intercooler tube design and so allow more heat to transfer from the air through the tubes into the fins then to the atmosphere. They are also very effective in that when the FPI is specified correctly they don’t unduly affect the pressure drop across the tube length.
The louvred R fin has 2 features/benefits with the first being that the fin has a larger contact area with the tube allowing more heat transfer and the second being that the fins internal louvres work the air more to give more heat transfer from the fins to the atmosphere.
FYI - PWR generally focus on Tube & Fin cores as Bar & Plate whilst performing well initially is very susceptible to heat soak under real world use.
